아르센 벵거감독은 이번 월드컵에서 독일의 젊은 선수층들이 신뢰에 보답하고 있다고 생각한다.

요하임 뢰브감독의 팀은 남아공에서 인상적인 활약을 보여주고 있는데, 지난 잉글랜드 전을 4-1 완파하며 이번 토요일 8강전 아르헨티나와 맞붙는다.

독일팀은 경험이 풍부한 필립 람과, 수비수 아르네 프리드리히, 그리고 스트라이커 미로슬라브 클로제는 풍부한 노하우를 제공하고 있다. 그러나 지난해 유럽 선수권 21세 이하 챔피언십  우승 스쿼드였던 토마스 뮐러와 제롬 보아텡, 그리고 메수츠 외질도 두드러진 활약을 보여주고 있다.

벵거 감독은 (뢰브 감독이) 젊은 선수들에게 투자하는 것이 전혀 이상할 것이 없다고 생각하며 젊은 선수들의 가능성을 믿어준 뢰브감독은 충분히 칭찬받아야 한다고 했다.

"내가 보기에 이번 토너먼트에서 가장 눈에 띄는 선수가 3명 있습니다 - [바스티안] 슈바인슈타이거, 뮐러와 외질. 두명은 지난해 21세 이하 팀이기도 했다.

"독일은 세대교체에 대해 두려움을 느끼고 있지 않습니다. 모든 일들이 잘 되고 있을때 모든 이들은 이를 환상적이라고 말합니다. 만일 제대로 되지 않으면 모든 이들은 비난을 하곤 합니다."

Wenger impressed by new German generation
Arsène Wenger believes Germany have been rewarded for putting their faith in a new generation of players at the World Cup.

Joachim Loew's team have been impressive in South Africa, topping a competitive group before thrashing England 4-1 to set up a Quarter-Final clash with Argentina on Saturday.

The Germany side has a smattering of experience with captain Philipp Lahm, defender Arne Friedrich and striker Miroslav Klose providing plenty of know-how. But Loew has also leant heavily on last year's European Under-21 Championship-winning squad with Thomas Mueller, Jerome Boateng and Mesut Ozil all prominent.

Wenger is no stranger to investing in youth himself and he believes Loew should be applauded for trusting his country's young prospects.

"Germany have a good generation," said Wenger in an exclusive interview with Arsenal.com.

"For me they have three outstanding players in this tournament - [Bastian] Schweinsteiger, Mueller and Ozil. Two of them were with the Under-21s last year.

"Germany were not scared to face the new generation. When it works everyone says it is fantastic. When it does not work, everyone kills you."
