Wenger - We'll see if Robin is ready to start
Robin Van Persie could start against Wigan - if he recovers well enough after the Tottenham game.

The Dutchman impressed as a second-half substitute in Wednesday's North London derby despite the fact he has not played for five months due to ankle ligament damage.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League trip to Wigan, manager Arsène Wenger explained that he was considering starting Van Persie on Sunday.

The deciding factor will be how fresh the striker feels.

"We will have to see how he responds," said Wenger. "He had very tight muscles everywhere [after the Tottenham game] because he had not played at all so we have to see whether we go for the gamble or not.

"If he feels physically all right he will start. If it is a little gamble we will not take it because he has been out for such a long time."

The manager also updated journalists on some of Arsenal's other injury concerns, stating that Andrey Arshavin (calf) could return next weekend.

"Arshavin is not ready to come back this week," confirmed the manager. "He has a small chance to come back for Manchester City but even that will be a 50-50.

"However Vermaelen's season is over, and Song is out [of the Wigan game]."
